Beads I (2011)Glassworking classes continue at The Visual Arts Center of Richmond. I took the glass bead making class for the first time, and it proved to be as much fun as the marble making, as well as requiring some different skills and techniques. Since less glass in typically involved, output in number of pieces tends to be higher as well. Though a couple of my pieces ended up using almost as much glass as a marble, due to my tendancies from that class. It turns out that the smaller beads were easier to work with, though they can't be too small or they cool to quickly while you are decorating them. There is no sense of scale in these photos, but the cylinder beads are (for me) the optimal working size so far. |
